Whether you shoot with film or digital equipment, if you've been shooting for a while or just starting out, this course has something for you. Designed to both answer the questions of the beginner, and show further variations and refresh the skills of the novice.

"Introduction to Better Photography" is a comprehensive course covering all of the basics of photography in great detail.

Here's a breakdown of just some the topics covered...

»Equipment - learn more about the gear
you already have (and want). What to buy and what not to buy.

»Digital - do's and don'ts of digital capture, plus basic workflow techniques for editing, saving, archiving and sharing etc.

»Exposure - take control of those mysterious shutter and aperture settings

»Composition - make every photo more interesting with better compositional skills

»Portraiture - learn ways to make your subjects look and feel more natural in portraits and candids

»Flash - discover how using flash (correctly) can improve your images

»Landscape - make better scenics using the right filters, film and lenses

»Digital* vs. Film - learn the differences & similarities between the two formats*

No prior photography experience is required.

The course runs for 8 classes in total, which includes 7 evenings and 1 field trip (typically on a weekend morning - date TBA). Students will be given assignments from each class which will be critiqued at the beginning of the following session.


Requirements: Students should have an SLR (single lens reflex) camera, film or digital.
Students should be prepared for a little "homework" between classes, as there will be an assignment relating to the topic of the week.
